[He was out running (close to the full moon and all) and nearly trips over it when he comes back near dawn. Well, nearly steps on it would be more accurate, but Isaac feels the cold and jerks back, sending the stone and almost himself sliding across the floor.

And when he sees what's the result of kind of kicking a stone into the nearest wall there's a tiny snowman. It takes a minute or two to wrap his head around it and the fact that it has to be magic but then?

Oh, he's curious, so he sets his nose to the task of finding who left the little gift. Once he's sure he's got the scents on the stone/in his room well noted, off he goes, prowling the halls and looking for a scent that matches.]
